RESTORE consortium meets for General Assembly in Germany

The RESTORE consortium held its General Assembly on 7 July 2026, hosted by the Fraunhofer Institute for Algorithms and Scientific Computing SCAI at Schloss Birlinghoven in Sankt Augustin, Germany.

The meeting brought together project partners to review progress, discuss the status of ongoing technical activities, and align the consortium on the next steps towards the upcoming reporting and review milestones.

During the General Assembly, partners presented updates from the main work packages, including digital tool development, platform integration, industrial validation, business model activities, dissemination and exploitation. A significant part of the discussion was dedicated to the preparation of the RESTORE industrial use-case demonstrations, which will be central to proving the project's impact.

The consortium reviewed what each use case should demonstrate according to the Grant Agreement and Description of Action. This includes damage assessment, selection of the appropriate remanufacturing process, use of relevant feedstock and automation approaches, validation of remanufactured components, and demonstration of RESTORE platform functionalities such as Digital Product Passport creation and updates, simulation-based process optimisation, collaborative data exchange, and cost and environmental assessment.

The meeting also included a risk management workshop, where partners discussed current challenges, mitigation actions and priorities for the next phase of the project. Topics included technical progress, use-case requirements, platform interoperability, stakeholder engagement and preparation for the next reporting period.

The General Assembly provided an important opportunity to strengthen alignment across the consortium and ensure that the next phase of RESTORE remains focused on industrial relevance, sustainability and demonstrable impact.

RESTORE will continue working towards its objective of advancing sustainable remanufacturing solutions through innovative laser and plasma-based processes, recycled-content feedstock, digital tools and collaborative platform technologies.

Event Details:
• RESTORE aims to develop sustainable remanufacturing solutions with increased automation and recycled content in laser and plasma-based processes. The project supports the transition towards more circular, resource-efficient and digitally enabled manufacturing value chains.
